Frequently
Asked Questions
What is Code of Ethics Training?
The National Association of Realtors
requires all members to have Code of Ethics training every four years
beginning January 1, 2001. New licensees usually receive this training
when they join their local Association of Realtors. Experienced
agents may take this training through their Association of Realtors or a
Continuing Education Class.
When do I need to renew my license?
The real estate license cycle runs from
October of every even numbered year through September of the next even
numbered year for salespersons (example October 1, 2004 through September
30, 2006) and July of every even numbered year through June of the next even
numbered year for brokers (example July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2006)
What
is the difference between the MREC and
my local Association of Realtors (example: St. Louis Association of
Realtors-SLAR)?
The MREC (Missouri
Real Estate Commission) is responsible for carrying out and enforcing
Missouri License Law-they oversee all things concerning your real estate
license. Your local Association of Realtors is a trade organization
you belong to. They have no authority over your license. The
National Association of Realtors (of which your local Association is part
of) is the organization that requires Code of Ethics training.
What are the Missouri Real Estate
Commission's requirements for Continuing Education for licensees?
All licensees must
take a total of 12 hours of continuing education, consisting of one 3 hour
core course and 9 hours of elective classes.
How do I find out what my real estate
license number is?
Visit the MREC web site at
www.pr.mo.gov click on the "licensee
search" icon, select "licensee name", enter your name in the box provided
and click the search button. Click on "detail" -you will find your
license number, the expiration date of your license and the address the
Commission has on file for you.
How do I get a schedule of classes that
are being offered?
Click on "Experience Agent Programs" or
"New Agent Programs" to find a current schedule of classes.
